The short version
- The PageCore plugin sends no personal data, no site address and no analytics anywhere.
- Our websites ask for your consent before using cookies or analytics that are not essential.
- Our servers keep standard web server logs, used only to keep them running and secure.
Who we are
PageCore is a free WordPress plugin, and PageCore FSE is a free WordPress theme, both made by Mahesh Patel. In this policy, “we” means the maker of PageCore, and “our servers” means pagecore.net and demos.pagecore.net.
This website
- Cookies and analytics. Our websites may use cookies and analytics to work properly and to understand how they are used. Any that are not essential are used only if you accept them, and you can decline them.
- Server logs. Like any web server, ours records standard request details: your IP address, the address requested, the time, your browser’s user agent and the referring page. We use them only to keep the site running and secure.
Links to WordPress.org and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
The PageCore plugin
The plugin runs on your own WordPress site. It has no analytics, no telemetry and no “phone home”.
When it contacts other servers
Only when you use a feature that needs it: opening Starter Sites or the Design Library for the first time, pressing Sync, importing a starter site, inserting a pattern or page from the Design Library, or importing a style from the Style Library. Never on a schedule.
What it sends
Each request is a plain download. It contains the address being fetched, a user agent of PageCore/ followed by the plugin’s version number (for example PageCore/1.0.0), and a header naming the kind of file expected. It contains no personal data, no cookies, no login details, no licence key and nothing that names your site. As with any request from any server, the server receiving it sees your web server’s IP address.
Where it connects
- demos.pagecore.net, to read a starter site’s description, and to download the content and images of a starter site you import or a page you insert from the Design Library.
- pagecore.net, for Design Library patterns and their images, and for a style’s font files when you import that style.
- WordPress.org, only when you agree to install a plugin a starter site needs, or the PageCore FSE theme. This uses WordPress’s own installer, so those requests carry what WordPress itself sends when you install from the Plugins or Themes screen. The WordPress.org privacy policy applies to them.
The plugin connects only to the hosts named in a file that ships with it. On a live site it uses https only, follows redirects only to those same hosts, and refuses addresses on private or local networks.
Screenshots
Screenshots of starter sites and their pages are images on pagecore.net, loaded by your browser while you use PageCore in the WordPress admin. That request carries what your browser normally sends, such as your IP address and user agent. PageCore’s own admin screens and the Design Library’s large page preview tell the browser to send no referrer, so pagecore.net is not told which site you are viewing them from. The smaller kit and page cards inside the block editor follow WordPress’s own admin setting, which tells pagecore.net your site’s domain, but not the page you are on.
Data stored on your site
The plugin keeps its settings, the content it imports and a record of what each import created and changed in your own WordPress database and uploads folder. None of it is sent to us. Deleting the plugin removes nothing unless you first switch on “Remove Data on Delete” in PageCore’s settings.
Our servers
pagecore.net and demos.pagecore.net serve public files: starter site content, images, screenshots, pattern files and fonts. When your site or your browser fetches them, our servers see the request’s IP address and user agent, as with any web request, and record them in standard server logs. We do not use them to identify you, and the plugin does not tell us when an import happens.
The demo sites
The starter sites at demos.pagecore.net are ordinary WordPress sites, set up to show each design. What this policy says about cookies and analytics applies to them too. Two more things to know:
- Some demo pages show an embedded Google map. Viewing one of those pages loads the map from Google, and Google’s privacy policy applies to it.
- The contact forms on the demo sites are part of the design. Please don’t send personal information through them. Anything that does arrive through a demo form is used only to reply to it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. In practice, the only personal data we hold is in server logs and in anything sent through a demo site’s contact form. To make a request, post on the PageCore support forum on WordPress.org without any personal details, and we will reply there about the next step.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. See also our terms of use.
